how to protect laptop battery

most of nowadays laptop battery is lithium batteries, lithium is almost no memory effect, the the best charging time is about 20 percent remaining battery, the charger can be about 98%.

only a nickel hydrogen battery has memory effect, should only be used up after the filling.

Then there is another mistake that to remove battery from laptop, inside lithium battery there are two circuits, one is to protect the circuit, another is a management circuits, management circuit protect the lithium from over charge-discharged, however, which means when the battery full, it is impossible to replenishment more electricity into the battery, so there will be no major impact.
But you should avoid use batteries for while then use external power supply and switch over very often, that could reduce your battery charge and discharge times. because the battery life of the battery time are calculated using the number of full power. Therefore, if you do not complete the charging before use it. This counts as one time, while power consumption for you is only half complete. So, a fully charged battery relatively more efficient.
