HASEE Q130W/B/R laptop OEM Vista Bios update
i have got a laptop with Intel 945GSE/atom 270 CPU/160G harddisk/1GB RAM called hasee Q130W,
HASEE is a very hot brand that have lot of people attack to. it allways have the lowest price compare to other brand, the Q130W i bought is only 2620RMB while the official price is 2799RMB.
Q130 does not have GUI OS equipped into, it only have a FreeDOS installed, so i tried to install other operating system.
first i tried to install Ubuntu 8.10 on Q130W. working.
later i tried to install the Windows Vista for the HASEE Q130W. the system runs fast enough. i saw somebody else has upgraded their RAM to 2GB(max) for the Q130 for Windows Vista.
i was confused that while Intel tell the 945GSE can only have the maxmum of 1GB, and people are installed 2GB successfuly. so i read the user manul. it says 2GB maxmum for Q130.
after downloading Windows Vista driver for Q130W from www.intel.com. i found that the Vista is not activated. the version i install is the HASEE OEM edtion. i downloaded a EVEREST to check the Bios, there is no SLIC table for Vista in the BIOS, also there is no keyword "Haseecomputer" to activate the OEM Windows XP.
So i downloaded a HASEE SLIC file called HASEE.bin which is 374 bytes in size. then backup the Bios using AFUWIN.exe in vista.
next step is run AddSLIC.exe to add the SLIC into the Bios then flash the Bios back into the Q130W.
i had done this in DOS mode for other computer in the past. everything was ok. but this time when i restart the computer. the screen went black, neither the Bios screen and the Vista showed up.
i need some help so i called the support, they asked me to take the computer to their office.
