VMWare does only provide vmaudio sound driver for Windows XP 64bit, while it utilize 32bit driver that built-in in windows xp. there is no driver provided for windows xp 32 bit from vmware.

if you install windows xp from a modified windows xp source disk, such as a slim edition. there might no driver avaliable for windows xp, this is caused by the people who removed some driver files from windows xp installation disk when making the slim edition.

in such case, a driver for creative sould blaster es1371 can be used. this is the compatiable driver for vmware virtual sound card. you can download it from many place by search it in www.google.com
